Dame Ethel Walker was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy (ARA) in 1940 - one of the first women to achieve this distinction. She exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy, the New English Art Club, and the London Group. She was also the head of the Women's International Art Club, promoting opportunities for women artists internationally.
Her paintings are in collections worldwide, including Tate and The National Galleries of Scotland.
