The original softly bevelled rectangular mercury glass plate below the original arched plate all with conforming border glass with gilt lead moulding. The arched plate surmounted by a carved giltwood crest enclosing etched mercury glass reserves and a central crown, possibly denoting a royal commission.
To the reverse, a label reading:
'Reportee par Victor Jammes de sa maison paternelle et offerte a Ernest Daran et a sa femme. 10 novembre 1887.'

Provenance: Jean Baptiste Jammes (1797 - 1857).
Louis-Victor Jammes (1831 - 1888), son of Jean Baptiste Jammes. Inherited from his father's estate by Louis-Victor Jammes, [father of renowned French poet Francis Jammes (1868 - 1938)].
Given to Ernest Daran (allegedly an uncle of Francis Jammes) and his wife on 10 November 1887.
