Mogensen was one of the most important furniture designers of the 20th century, who created 'Danish Modern'. His work is in museums worldwide.
After a trip to Spain where Mogensen was inspired by some of the strong, provincial furniture he saw, he designed a chair with armrests wide enough for a drink to be placed upon, and a solid, bold frame countered by the slung leather seat and back. He named it the 'Spanish Chair' and these early models remain a favourite among collectors of 20th century design.
