The rectangular top comprising a Kangxi period coromandel lacquer screen panel depicting figures on a palace terrace, mounted in a black moulded frame raised on straight legs with stylised scroll feet.

As was often the case with lacquer screens, the panels were incorporated into European-made furniture - both a way of salvaging part of a damaged screen, and also introducing some much sought after exoticism into the European interior. This lacquer top would have come from a Chinese screen dating to the late 17th century and the table itself is probably English, early 20th century.

Available with a protective glass top.
