The octagonal single piece tilt top with a fine pierced gallery on an unusual pierced column carved with trailing husk decoration supported by an elegant scrolling tripod base, each leg with carved fish scale sides and floral carving to the shoulders leading to scrolling feet. All with the original small brass castors.

England, circa 1760

The fretwork gallery made from pierced laminated mahogany, a technique established by Chippendale. The design of the fretwork too also an adaptation of one of Chippendale's 'Gothick' frets.
