A large glazed pottery teapot by Vally Wieselthier (1895 - 1945)

The bulbous circular body with a large loop handle and elongated spout flanking the knopped lid. All with a graduated umber glaze.

Marked VW and numbered 2 to the underside.

Condition: In wonderful original condition

Wieselthier studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Koloman Moser and Josef Hoff- man, working with Wiener Werkstätte from 1917 until the establishment of her own ceramic workshop (1922 -1927). Her focus steadily shifted to the United States and she moved to Chi- cago in 1933.

Wieselthier's work is in many museums and private collections, including The Met in New York and the Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna.
