Jacques Adnet was at the forefront of Art Deco design, an icon of French Modernism. Distinctly avant garde, he combined functionality with smart minimalism, combining leather, suede, glass and metal in a style that has endured over the decades and is justifiably still highly sought after today.
From 1928 until 1960, Adnet directed La Compagnie des Arts Français, his design team comprising the stellar group of François Jourdain, Charlotte Perriand and Georges Jouve. His com- missions included the private apartments of the President at the Élysée Palace and the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.
